Business & Education Celebrate Partnerships

By admin

Issued on behalf of Careers Wales Cardiff and Vale

MORE than 150 representatives from the worlds of business and education attended a special awards ceremony, held to celebrate a year of successful partnerships.

Careers Wales Cardiff and Vale hosted its Most Valued Partner Awards Ceremony at the Hilton Hotel, Cardiff, to recognise the unique relationship the company has with local employers, training providers, schools and colleges.

Part of a national brand funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, Careers Wales Cardiff and Vale provides free independent careers information and advice for all ages. The company’s Education Business Partnership (EBP), plays a major role in brokering links between local employers, schools and colleges helping to raise student achievement and providing young people with opportunities to develop work related skills.

The awards ceremony, sponsored by Dow Corning, HSBC and Acorn Recruitment, recognised support for a wide range of initiatives including work experience, enterprise, mentoring, social inclusion, teacher placement schemes and workforce development.

The evening began with a drinks reception and entertainment from a string quartet, made up of students from Cardiff and Vale schools, followed by dinner and the awards ceremony itself.

Award winners were each presented with a special plaque, individually designed by Rumney Pottery – a company that has been established in Cardiff for more than seven generations.

Christine Chapman, Deputy Minister for Education, who presented many of the evening’s awards, said: “These awards are a wonderful advertisement for what can be achieved when education and business work together in partnership.”

Mark Freeman, chief executive of Careers Wales Cardiff and Vale said: “The Most Valued Partner Awards provided us with an opportunity for us to express our appreciation to local business and education for their support during the year, and in particular celebrate the outstanding enthusiasm and commitment of nominated individuals and organisations.”
