Cardiff Business Women In Charity Arrest

Issued on behalf of Emyr Pierce Solicitors

TEN Cardiff business women are preparing to be ‘arrested’ in an unusual event to raise money for women in domestic crisis.

The women are taking part in a ‘Jail ‘n’ Bail’ event as part of Women’s International Day on Thursday March 8.

Women’s International Day has been observed since the early 1900’s, and aims to connect women around the world, and inspire them to achieve their full potential.

Each of the ten women will be ‘arrested’ from their offices by the police on Thursday, and taken to a secret location where they will be held prisoner until they raise a minimum of £500 ‘bail’ money each.

All of the money raised on Thursday will be donated to Cardiff Women’s Aid which provides specialist support to survivors of domestic abuse.

The women taking part are: Cath Tucker, of Emyr Pierce Solicitors, Bethan Darwin, of Darwin Gray Solicitors, Jackie Quantock, of Legal and General, Tania Phelps, of Barclays Bank, Julia Young of SME Invoice Finance, Marianne Petitfour, of Berkeley House, Shirley Russell of Capital Law Commercial, Natalie Dobson of Farthings Restaurant, Elaine Green, of Cardiff Executive Centre, and Christine Green of DTR Clinic.

Once they have reached their fundraising target, they will be ‘released’ at an Institute of Directors dinner, which is being held on Thursday evening at Cardiff’s Hilton Hotel to celebrate Women’s International Day.

Cath Tucker, Director of Business Development at Emyr Pierce Solicitors in Rhiwbina, said: “We will only be getting a taste of the mental and physical imprisonment some women are faced with every day, and everyone taking part in this event is keen to raise at least £500 each for such a worthwhile cause.

“Cardiff Women’s Aid does a fantastic job in supporting women facing difficult and dangerous circumstances.”
