A Round Of Golf With A Rugby Legend

Issued on behalf of Celtic Crusaders Rugby League Club
A ROUND of golf with sporting legend Jonathan Davies will be up for grabs at an Institute of Directors’ lunch being staged with the Celtic Crusaders rugby league club.
The former Wales, British Lion and Great Britain rugby union and league star, who is president of the Crusaders, is donating his golfing talents as an auction prize at the lunch in July.
Diners at the event being staged at the Brewery Field, Bridgend, will have the chance to bid for a game of golf for two with the 37-times capped Davies and his friend, Crusaders’ assistant coach and former rugby league star Kevin Ellis at the Vale Hotel, Golf & Spa resort Wales National Course.
Around 180 people are expected to attend the IoD event on Friday, July 13, at which the lessons business can learn from sport will be delivered by two of the key figures behind the rapid rise of the promotion-chasing Celtic Crusaders.
The Co-operative National League Two automatic promotion favourites have been transformed in the last six months into one of the fastest-developing clubs of any major sport in the UK.
Speakers at the IoD lunch include the Crusaders’ Thibault Giroud, one of Europe’s top fitness and conditioning coaches who will explain the benefits to business of having a fit and healthy management. Crusaders’ coach John Dixon, who helped turn the Brisbane Broncos Australian NRL side into the biggest club in the world, will also talk on the importance of team motivation for business.
The auction and raffle held during the event will be in aid of the South Wales-based Joshua Foundation, the Celtic Crusaders’ adopted charity for the year which provides holidays and experiences for children across the UK for children diagnosed with terminal cancer, and their families.
Crusaders’ chief executive David Thompson said: “Motivation of any team, whether in business or sport, is fundamental to the success of that team, and John Dixon is one of the best motivators around.
“Many senior managers are so busy these days that they neglect what should be their most valuable asset – themselves. Having trained Olympic athletes and professional rugby union and league players at the highest level, Thibault knows just how much difference a healthy body can have on an individual’s performance. This applies to teams both on the pitch and in the boardroom.
“We are very much looking forward to the event and our numerous ‘money can’t buy’ sporting prizes raising some money for The Joshua Foundation.”
Tables of 10 for the lunch, which includes a two-course roast beef meal, are £200 (individual places at £20) and can be booked from Debbie Trotman on Cardiff 029 2038 9990.
