Afan Forest to Turn Pink and Blue
By admin
Issued on behalf of Cancer Research Wales
The Afan Forest is set to turn pink and blue for the day – to help the fight against cancer in Wales.
The beauty spot has been chosen as the venue for a colourful fundraising event in aid of Cancer Research Wales, on Sunday July 15.
The Cancer Research Wales ‘Pink-a-Blue Walk’ raises money to fund potentially life-saving research into breast and prostate cancer, two of the most common cancers affecting people in Wales. Everyone who signs up for the walk will be asked to wear either blue, to show their support for prostate cancer, or pink, to represent research into breast cancer.
There will be two walk routes open – a 1.5 mile walk which anyone can take part in, or a 4 mile route for the more energetic. There also will be a prize for the best dressed person on the day.
The first Pink-a-Blue Walk around the Cardiff Bay barrage last September, raised more than £6,000 for Cancer Research Wales.

Liz Andrews, Deputy Charity Director for Fundraising at Cancer Research Wales said: “20,000 men and women will be diagnosed with prostate or breast cancer in Wales every year. We need to raise a million pounds to fund a Welsh-based research project into anti-cancer drugs to fight both terrible illnesses.
“These drugs could potentially stop breast and prostate tumours spreading into other parts of the body, and by signing up for the Pink-a-Blue Walk this summer, everyone can do their bit to help. “
The Pink-a-Blue Walk starts at 11am. For more information on registering, call Liz Andrews on 02920 316976 or visit www.crw.org.uk
