Broadcaster John Humphrys, whose no-nonsense style has wilted countless politicians, will grill some of Britain’s leading entrepreneurs on the opening day of the Ideal Business Show Wales in Cardiff on Wednesday June 13.
The legendary hard-man of Radio 4’s Today programme and presenter of BBC TV’s Mastermind quiz will be putting some of Britain’s coolest business operators in the hotseat to reveal the real people behind the myths.
Among those already lined up for the interviews are Jacqueline Gold – the Ann Summers’ and Knickerbox chief executive and Chris Moss – chairman of the Number (118118) and creator of the Orange brand.
“It’s really very brave of these hugely successful people,” said event director Will Allen.
“They’ve agreed to let John Humphrys interview them in the way that only John Humphrys can. He’ll be getting under their protective shells to reveal the strengths and weaknesses that have made them key figures in Britain’s business landscape.”
Jacqueline Gold has been described as “the woman who brought sex to the high street”.
Having joined Ann Summers at the age of 19 she worked her way up to become Chief Executive – whereupon she took the company in a different direction. It now boasts a sales force of over 7,500, 136 high street stores and an annual turnover of £155 million.
Chris Moss is currently chairman of the Number (118118) and was marketing director of Virgin Atlantic and creator of the world-famous Orange brand. He is renowned for not only offering audiences sound advice but also arming them with the tools to go away and create their own original and successful campaigns.
The two-day business exhibition takes place at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on Wednesday and Thursday, June 13 and 14, with Ideal Business Show Wales aiming for at least 3,000 visitors.
Jacqueline Gold and Chris Moss will be interviewed at the business lunch on June 13. Jacqueline will also be holding a seminar from 11am that day, and Chris will be speaking at the business breakfast at 8.30am.
