Celebrities Head for Haunted South Wales Mansion

A psychic celebrity supper in a haunted Welsh mansion will feature Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton and Miss Great Britain Preeti Desai among the guests – and perhaps appearances from several “uninvited guests”.
The spooky evening is being hosted by psychic-to-the stars Gavin Cromwell at The Court Colman Manor in Bridgend, a Georgian mansion steeped in history and built on land owned by the monks of Margam Abbey.
Other celebrity guests will include Leon Lopez and Alexis Hall from Hollyoaks: In the City, singer Suzie Thomas and Jamie Shaw who first made a name for himself in boyband One True Voice on TV’s Popstars: The Rivals.
And the uninvited guests are likely to be members of the Llewellyn family who owned the mansion between 1837 and 1961 – including their staff and servants.
And there’s little doubt they’ll make an appearance, as Porthcawl-based Gavin summed up Court Colman Manor – now a country hotel – in just two words: “Crazy haunted!”
“In fact there are more places where the spirits are active than not. The stairs, the cellar and a servant’s bedroom have all got loads of activity – as has the pets’ cemetery outside.
“It may be that these are places where something significant happened to the people involved many years ago so somewhere where they now feel grounded. But that’s not to say they won’t follow us around the house – they do!
“They were a grumpy, offish family and very private so the fact that this is now a hotel stirs it all up.
“They don’t like the intrusion of their privacy, especially when there’s a psychic poking his nose in, so there will definitely be a lot happening on the night, from bangings and knockings and voices furniture moving.”
Gavin, of course, is used to this having first realised he could see ghosts on a trip to Tredegar House near to where he grew up in Newport. But how will the guests react at Court Colman?
“They’ll be frightened stiff – Jamie’s already petrified!” laughed Gavin.
But that won’t stop them coming to the event which has grown through word of mouth.
“Preeti and Leon are clients of mine and the others are friends of theirs … it kind of took off,” said Gavin, who’s just as used to giving tarot readings to his clients as ghost hunting.
The celebrity psychic supper, on Tuesday May 22, will start with a relaxing meal before taking a supernatural turn as the celebrities embark on a paranormal investigation.
“We’ll also hold a séance and try communicating with spirits in other ways.
“But once supper has ended the paranormal investigation will be done completely in the dark – and it’s being filmed by a crew equipped with special night-vision cameras.”
You’ll be able to see images of the evening on Gavin’s website www.gavincromwell.com/ soon after the event.
