Go Green at Ideal Business Show

Issued on behalf of Ideal Business Show Wales

It’s a dream ticket – save serious money and improve your company’s green credentials – but that’s exactly what one Welsh business is helping others to achieve.

Utility & Environmental Services Ltd (UES) specialises in helping businesses to reduce their utility costs as well as their environmental impact. Set up four years ago, its value has since spread by word of mouth but this month for the first time it will open its doors to the wider Welsh business community at the Ideal Business Show Wales.

As a measure of the savings they can make, one client – regulated gas distributor Wales & West Utilities, formerly part of National Grid Transco – speaks volumes; since July last year, UES has managed to save this business £600,000 with a further £500,000 savings identified and in progress.

“As a private limited company with no external shareholders, we have full control over how the business operates,” said Andrew Padmore, managing director of the Ystrad Mynach-based business.

“We offer a truly independent service – we refuse to be tied exclusively to any particular companies but we maintain good working relations with the major suppliers and work closely with government bodies and smaller specialist service providers. It means we can package the best solution for any business from the wide variety of options in the market. And customers can’t lose out – we only get paid if we deliver.”

The savings come through a variety of approaches:

UES will be sharing their knowledge and experiences with other businesses at the Ideal Business Show Wales on June 13th and 14th where they have taken a stand (22).

Managing director Andrew Padmore will also be giving a free seminar at the show entitled Environmental Management – Is it Really Good for Your Business? in which he will examine whether it is always good for businesses to reduce their environmental impact against the commercial backdrop of marginal profitability, minimal resources and operational challenges. He’ll also discuss other UES case studies covering energy, water, waste and telecoms to show visitors the range of savings that can be made.

At the heart of UES’s approach is their aim to demonstrate integrity and commitment to the wider community by working collaboratively to make an impact on the environment.

“We believe in what we do and we live by our values – we want to build key relationships with partners who share our ethics and philosophy and develop responsible business practices,” said service delivery director Andrew Diplock.

The development strategy that UES has in place will ensure the continuation of an already healthy turnover by implementation of sustainable growth plans. Over the next three years UES intends to recruit more than 100 client managers, cementing future turnover targets in excess of £10 million.

This is expected to mean a reduction in utility costs of more than £4,000,000 a year for Welsh clients. Environmentally, this will also reduce carbon emissions and carbon footprints across Wales as well as reducing waste going to landfill sites.

* Environmental Management – Is it Really Good for Your Business? – the seminar by Andrew Padmore, will be held at 4pm on Thursday June 14th in the Steps2Success Theatre at the Ideal Business Show Wales. Or you can visit UES on Stand 22.
