Issued on behalf of Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival
Thousands of foodies are expected to descend on Cowbridge this weekend, as the Vale of Glamorgan town gears up for its annual food and drink festival.
One of the fastest-growing food events in Wales, the festival has changed dramatically since its small beginnings four years ago.
More than 80 exhibitors will be displaying their produce in heart of Cowbridge Town Centre throughout the weekend. The main marketplace will feature everything from luxury lamb burgers to delicious homemade deli products, local smoked fish and even authentic Punjabi cuisine.
Alongside the main marquee will be a new addition to the 2007 festival, the Welsh Cheese and Wine tent, which will feature more local produce – and plenty of opportunity for sampling!
Weary shoppers can rest on elegant French furniture at the Champagne Marquee, a little oasis of calm and sophistication among the bustle of the marketplace.
Visitors will also be treated to food demonstrations by acclaimed chef Doug Windsor, who will also be facing former Olympic athlete Jamie Baulch in a ‘cook-off’ challenge during the weekend.
Those with a sweet tooth won’t be disappointed, local chocolatier and patissiere, Massimo Bishop Scotti, who famously created the gooey chocolate pudding featured the recent Marks and Spencer advert, will also be demonstrating his other mouth-watering creations throughout the weekend.
And anyone who likes a tipple will enjoy the free drinks talks taking place during the festival, from wine tasting to lessons on how to mix your own cocktails.
Children have not been forgotten at the festival either, childcare experts Simply Out of School are providing a licensed crèche throughout the weekend, and there will be plenty of street entertainment and activities for young people.
Polly Wilson, event manager for the Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival said: “This is an event for people who love food to come and enjoy meeting exhibitors, and astounding their senses with the fantastic sights, tastes and smells of the festival. There really is something for everyone.”
