Locals Line Up For Charity Showdown

Residents from Pont Newydd near Cwmbran will be knee slapping and toe tapping to their heart’s content this weekend at a Line Dancing evening in aid of Cancer Research Wales.
Hosted by local fundraisers Roy and Rita Johnston, the evening will help to raise funds for the Welsh cancer charity to continue their vital research into the disease in Wales.
Fundraising veterans, Rita (65) and Roy (63) from Griffithstown near Pontypool, are hoping the event will raise the final few pounds to help them reach their annual fundraising target.
In the last five years the couple has raised a total of £20,000 for Cancer Research Wales through a series of car boot sales, raffles and events.
Local singer Paul Bailey will be on hand to entertain the 150 strong crowd of dancers and fundraisers at the Line Dancing evening which begins at 7.30 this Saturday at Mount Pleaseant Hall in Pont Newydd.
