A group of business women from West Wales are celebrating the success of their Victorian themed fundraising evening after raising more than £1,100 for Cancer Research Wales.
The evening which was organised by the International Business Women’s Organisation saw more than 100 local business women and fellow fundraisers attend a special viewing of the period classic Amazing Grace at The Royal Playhouse in Tenby.
Dressed for the occasion in their Victorian finery, the fundraisers were treated to a welcome worthy of a film star with a full red carpet and roving spotlights.
Anne Kelly, Tenby Soroptimist and former Inner Wheel chairwoman, said: “The evening was a great success and everybody who attended had a lovely evening.
Anne added: “To see everybody in such great costumes and having fun whilst raising money for such a worthy cause made a lovely evening.”
Liz Andrews, Deputy Charity Director for Fundraising at Cancer Research Wales said;
“We are very grateful for the generous amount that was raised by the Soroptimists at their Victorian themed evening. All of the money that they and others raise remains in Wales, where it goes towards the funding of vital research into the disease and groundbreaking treatments.”
