The Vale Resort, Wales’ leading 4 star independent hotel, golf and spa resort is celebrating, after claiming the top spot at a prestigious fitness industry awards ceremony, which took place in Birmingham.
Fighting off strong competition from the fitness industry’s elite across the whole of the UK, the Resort’s Health & Racquets Club claimed the sought after title, having impressed industry assessors in the 4000 plus member category, at the Fitness Industry Association (FIA) FLAME Awards – dubbed the Oscars of the fitness world.
The rigorous assessment included a member’s satisfaction questionnaire and was followed by a whole day of on-site judging at the club, which amongst other facilities, boasts a state-of-the art gym – complete with the very latest computer-aided fitness equipment – luxury 20 metre indoor pool and various fitness studios offering a variety of classes, as well as squash & tennis courts, sauna, steam rooms and whirlpool bath.
Speaking following the win, Vale Resort Leisure Operations Manager, Mandy Boulton, said she and the team were elated to have been recognised as amongst the cream of the UK’s elite fitness providers.
“The FLAME awards really are the best there are so to have been recognised in this way is an amazing achievement for the team. As winners of the 4000 plus members Club of the Year category, the Health & Racquets Club has proved itself to be progressive and innovative in developing first class, customer-focussed facilities.
“Our staff work continuously to produce the best results for members and it’s just great to achieve such industry recognition.”
Alongside the excellent standard of fitness training and facilities, the Resort further impressed judges with efforts to create a ‘community atmosphere’ amongst members.
Mandy adds:
“The Vale Resort has been recognised as not just a place where you go to use the gym and then leave. By introducing member nights out, kids activities during the holidays and seasonal activities such as Carol concerts, it’s increasingly becoming a place for members to socialise and this was recognised by the Fitness Industry Association and the awards panel.”
Executive director of Central YMCA Qualifications, adjudicators of FLAME, Jean-Ann Marnoch, said:
“This year’s calibre of entrants was very high and all finalists demonstrated impressive and innovative qualities. But it was the creative approaches to delivering a service and dedication to teamwork over and above the norm which made these sites award winners.”
