The benefits of a professional public relations strategy is the subject of the latest podcast in Darwin Gray’s Business Blueprint series.
The advice in the form of a five-minute interview comes from Alastair Milburn, managing director of Effective Communication and former editor of the South Wales Echo and is available to listen to or download as an mp3 file from the Darwin Gray website www.darwingray.com/podcast.
It is the second in the Business Blueprint series produced by Darwin Gray’s commercial law team with the aim of helping people new to business with sound advice.
Steve Thompson, a commercial lawyer and partner at Darwin Gray solicitors, said, “As a commercial law firm we can provide advice on the legal aspects of setting up and running a business but many clients also want to know about other aspects of business, such as accountancy, banking or public relations.
“It made sense for us to work with other professionals who we rate highly in their fields to provide that advice, especially as many clients have the same uncertainties, ask the same questions and ultimately want the same advice.”
The Business Blueprint podcasts are published every month, each focusing on a key aspect of business, such as accountancy, HR and taxation and each in the form of an interview with acknowledged experts in the Welsh business community.
Darwin Gray also offers new businesses owners a unique package to help them get established – fixed fees for legal advice on setting up their business and payment by instalments to ease the strain on their cash flow.
“Cash flow is a critical element of all businesses but in start-ups it can often be the difference between success and failure,” said commercial lawyer and partner Jason Smith.
“So we thought we could ease the pressure on fledgling businesses if we allowed them to pay their legal fees by instalments over a year or so. And the fixed fee deal also means there aren’t going to be any unforeseen legal costs.
“Of course, the amount of legal work required will vary from one start-up to another so we’re simply inviting anyone looking to start-up a business to discuss their needs with us and we’ll work out the costs and payment arrangements from that information.”
