Issued on behalf of Cancer Research Wales
A group of workers at an engineering company based in Caerphilly, have cycled their way to raising a small fortune for Welsh cancer charity, Cancer Research Wales.
The 43-strong team of staff and contractors at the MITIE base in Nantgarw raised more £4,500 for the Welsh-based charity, during their one day 45 mile cross-terrain cycle from Brecon to Caerphilly.
MITIE employee and member of the charity event committee Keith Robbins, said: “There were a few sore limbs but on the whole everybody who was involved in the charity bike day had a great time raising money for such a worthy cause as Cancer Research Wales.
I am very proud to say that everyone who took part finished the course and in doing so raised vital money for the charity.”
As supporters of the charity for the past three years, the company has raised over £6,500 through a series of bike rides and charity events that has gone towards vital research into the disease in Wales.
Maggie Hughes, Charity Director at Cancer Research Wales, said: “We are very grateful for the generous amount that was raised by the employees and contractors at MITIE. All of the money that they and others raise remains in Wales, where it goes towards the funding of vital research into the disease and groundbreaking treatments.”
