Wheels of Fortune for Lucky Lotto Couple

A couple who own a car valeting company in Cardiff, are miles happier and are looking forward to a shiny new year after scooping £83,566,00 by matching five numbers and the bonus ball on last Wednesday’s (7 November 2007) Lotto draw.
Amanda Blake (34) and partner Paul Buckingham (42) have run Ultimate Valeting on Ipswich Road, in Cardiff for the last seven years. The couple, who have been together for 14 years, live in Coedkernew, between Cardiff and Newport, with their four children, Natacha, Taylor, Grant, and Terry Ann.
Originally from Llanrumney and Splott in Cardiff, the couple were at home with their family on Saturday night when they decided to check their lottery tickets for the week.
Amanda said: “We hadn’t played the lottery for eight weeks as I would always put the numbers on when I took my dad shopping on a Saturday, but for one reason or another I had been taking him on a Sunday.
“When Paul and I checked the numbers on Saturday night I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Although I didn’t have the ticket to hand I recognised our numbers straight away as they are all of our birthdays.
“Within moments I had turned into a hysterical crying wreck, but thankfully Paul was really calm. I can’t quite believe that we were sitting on that kind of money for three days without even knowing it.
Amanda continued, “For the last few years we have worked every hour available to make sure that the business succeeds and that the children get all that they need. This money has come as a godsend to us at the end of what has been a difficult few months.”
First on the couple’s wish list is a Christmas of plenty for their children and a well deserved break. Although the couple have yet to decide where their first family holiday will take them, their daughter, Natacha, is hoping that a trip to Jamaica is on the cards.
Amanda and Paul bought their winning ticket at Tesco in Culverhouse Cross in Cardiff. The winning Lotto numbers on Wednesday 7 November were 2, 6, 9, 13, 17, and the bonus ball number was 4.
This Wednesday’s (21 November) EuroMillions jackpot is an estimated £ million while Saturday’s (24 November) estimated Lotto jackpot is £xx million.
