Christmas Comes Again For Local Youngster

By admin

Issued on behalf of Cancer Research Wales

As the January blues set in for the rest of us, Christmas came again for Rhyl youngster, Taryn Town, when she realised she’d won a competition to win a Playstation 3, courtesy of CLIC – the online National Information Service run by Careers Wales for young people across Wales – and Funky Dragon.

The two organisations teamed up to ask young people to complete a survey, detailing exactly what they look for when searching for information on the internet and, in particular from the CLIC and Funky Dragon sites – ranging from the design of pages to information content, ease of navigation and popular search subjects.

All those who participated were entered into a draw to win the sought after Playstation, and when presented with her prize at the Rhyl Careers Office, Taryn, who is a pupil at Ysgol Llywelyn said:

“It was quite good fun filling in the survey and it’s nice to think that CLIC and Funky Dragon really want to know what we think.

“I use both websites a lot and find them really useful as there’s loads of information to look at and I always find the answers I’m looking for. I had a great Christmas and now I’m looking forward to learning how to use this new present!”

CLIC North West co-ordinator, Tania Russell-Owen, said she was pleased that Taryn was so happy with her prize.

“It’s really important for us to get feedback from our users as ultimately, it’s their site and they should have access to information on whatever subjects they need to learn more about.

“Both CLIC and Funky Dragon were delighted with the response and we’ll be doing more this year to encourage young people to participate in our work.”
