Commercial Property Team Expands At Darwin Gray

By admin

Issued on behalf of Darwin Gray Solicitors

Increased property development across South Wales and the UK has led to the further expansion of Cardiff-based Darwin Gray’s commercial property team.

Although the company was only founded five-and-a-half years ago the team has grown steadily with solicitor Catherine Burke the latest recruit, taking the team to two partners, three solicitors, a trainee solicitor and two para legals. They are also currently seeking to appoint a further solicitor.

Partners in the commercial property team Donald Gray and Alison Ivin say increased demand for Darwin Gray’s services comes not only from local business but also from clients all over the country.

“When we first set up the business there were people who we’d worked for in the past who decided to move with us,” said Donald Gray.

“If you do a good job clients will stay with you – that’s the way it works – and we’ve still got several clients we’ve been representing for more than 20 years. They in turn have recommended Darwin Gray to other businesses and this has helped us grow so much, but we’ve also picked up clients who have been on the other side when they’ve first encountered us.

“We take instructions from businesses based all around the country but inevitably our client activity is centred on South Wales. Here, we’ve recently been involved in aspects of the SA1 development in Swansea, the Baglan Energy Park, Argos’s 14 acre site at Magor and residential developments in Chepstow to name but a few.”

Partner Alison Ivin added, “There has been a lot of pressure on brownfield sites from Newport to Swansea and, of course, very much so in Cardiff. This has forced prices up and as a result developers have been looking to move further west.

“While residential developers are finding it tougher with sales having hardened, at Darwin Gray we’ve taken on more staff to manage the work that’s coming in which suggests there’s plenty going on in other commercial property sectors in South Wales.”
