‘Lightest Ever’ Mattresses Added To Range

By admin

Issued on behalf of Multimat

Two new high quality self-inflating mattresses – the lightest ever made – have been added to Multimat’s Adventure range for 2008.

The Adventure Superlite 25 and its smaller cousin the Adventure Superlite Compact 25 weigh just 530g and 390g respectively, making them the world’s lightest, ultra compact self-inflating mattresses.

The Adventure range was originally designed with competitive racing and adventure sports in mind, where every ounce saved gives a competitive edge but comfort remains vital. The mattresses’ light weight and compactness make them ideally suited to backpackers and other travellers.

The weight-saving has been achieved by using new ultra-light materials without compromising quality. Using their existing, proven designs, Multimat has made the Superlite 25 which measures 1830×510x25mm but weighs just 530g – a massive 150g reduction in the weight of the original Adventure 25 which has the same dimensions. It also rolls up to a more compact 260×155mm, yet retails at the same £50 price as its already highly-rated counterpart.

Its smaller cousin, the Superlite Compact 25, measures 1220×510x25mm when laid flat but weighs a mere 390g – 60g less than the original Adventure Compact 25 which again has the same dimensions and was manufactured to MoD specifications.

It also trims 5mm off the rolled thickness of the mattress to 260×125mm yet retails at the same price of just £40.

Like all the self-inflating mattresses in the Adventure range, the two new Superlite additions are individually tested to Multimat’s rigorous standards before being sold with a 24 month guarantee.

They are made with components carefully selected for quality. A lightweight polyester top layer and base with a new technically advanced foam core provides lasting performance and fast inflation through the new Easy Valve while the overall design and construction ensures it full inflates every time.

Despite the major reduction in weight, both mattresses are still designed and tested for use between +55 ºC and -15ºC. The mattresses come with a stuff sack, a retaining straps to maintain compactness, a repair patch and adhesive tube and come with a 24-month guarantee.

Multimat managing director Adrian Stammers said: “Advances in materials technology have enabled us to achieve something quite astonishing.

“The new Superlite mattresses maintain that fine balance between comfort and weight while remaining robust and fully adhering to our tried and tested design.

“At Multimat we have more than 20 years of manufacturing experience. Our self-inflating and foam ranges have been tried and tested in the most extreme environments.”

In addition to the Adventure range, Multimat makes mattresses for every type of camper, from families to expeditions in the toughest places on Earth, including the Caudwell Xtreme Everest expedition in 2007.
