A bright idea from Thomas George

By admin

With legislation coming into force from October 1st, making it a legal requirement for all landlords to provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for any properties they rent out, the Thomas George Group has added to its extensive list of services with the launch of Thomas George Energy.

An addition to Churchill Way-based Thomas George Estate Agents, Lettings and Finance, the new company has been set up to help landlords through the process, with fully accredited Domestic Energy Assessors employed specifically to carry out the required surveys.

The aim of the EPC is to demonstrate in detail the energy performance of a building, with a scaled rating of A-G highlighting efficiency levels. Recommendations as to how to improve a rating and save money on energy costs will be provided by the assessors following their inspection of factors including age of property, heating and lighting systems, window and door provision and external structure.

Speaking about the new service – which costs as little as £60 (&VAT) for 1 and 2 bedroom properties and £70 for 3 and 4 bedrooms – Principal of the Group, Thomas George, said: “In total, there are over 850,000 landlords in the UK who will all need to obtain an EPC once this legislation comes into force.

“Our aim is to help those who engage our services through the process and, ultimately, give them peace of mind that they are working with a fully accredited, well established and highly respected company. Thomas George Energy can also arrange for both gas and electrical safety certificates to be sourced from Corgi and NIC registered engineers and anybody wishing to find out more about this latest addition to our service can call 029 2039 5563 for further information.
