Crunch time

It’s been a very busy period for Effective Communication, partly because of the credit crunch and resulting economic slowdown … but that’s not manifested itself as people may expect.

We’ve been encouraged by the number of new clients we’ve taken on in the last six months – far more than we’ve lost – and they clearly see great value in investing in PR and marketing in challenging times.

For other businesses, however, the need for proper public relations advice could never be greater. They may be facing difficult situations such as redundancies, cut-backs, lost contracts or reduced funding. Any of these can lead to potentially damaging publicity which is the last thing you want as you strive to get back on an even keel.

Good PR can help manage difficult circumstances properly and minimise any negative impact.

Of course, a lot of business owners and directors are understandably reluctant to prepare for these issues until they know they are unavoidable. Then, they need to act swiftly and decisively to handle the situation.
