Pounds for pounding

By admin

WELL, I suppose it’s one way to take the mind off the recession.

But I’m not sure that pounding the streets of the Welsh capital for the next four months is the most comfortable way of escaping all the doom and gloom.

After vowing FOUR TIMES that I would never run another marathon, I want to see if the old knees will carry me through a fifth!

To ‘celebrate’ my 40th, I’m going to attempt the 2009 London Marathon on April 26, raising money for Cancer Research Wales.

As many of you will know, this is a charity very close to my heart, having lost my sister Roxy when she was just 40 three years ago, and, last year, a good friend, Bob Humphrys.

Bob was the auctioneer for auctions we held before my last two marathons, helping us to raise many, many thousands of pounds for both Cancer Research Wales, and Velindre Hospital here in Cardiff.

I am going to hold another auction this year, and am hoping that while money is tight, clients and other local businesses will donate gifts which can be auctioned off for this excellent cause. It’s certainly got to be less painful than my 26.2 mile sojourn around the English capital on April 26!
