Concept is a winning recruiter for Devon manufacturer

By Effective Communication

Specialist West Country recruitment company Concept Staffing has won a contract to supply SFL, the UK’s leading flue and chimney manufacturer, with temporary staff for the next 12 months.
Barnstaple-based SFL, who are in their 40th year and employ around 20 temporary staff at peak manufacturing output times, have appointed Concept as their preferred temporary workforce supplier.
Winners of an award for Best Transformation of a Business in recognition of its lean initiatives by the North Devon Manufacturing Association, SFL recently hosted a one-day workshop attended by representatives of local manufacturing companies in North Devon aimed at helping businesses keep down costs by becoming leaner and more efficient.
Celebrating over 20 years in business, Concept, which has branches across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Wiltshire, is the South West’s leading provider of permanent and temporary recruitment which, in addition to other industry sectors, specialises in engineering recruitment.
Concept has recognised the importance of providing talented individuals to local companies and are keen to support initiatives to improve the awareness and benefits of lean tools and techniques.
Together as part of the Acorn Group, the company finds jobs for up to 5,500 temps with more than 750 different clients each week, and also delivers training to more than 3,000 individuals and makes 1,500 permanent placements every year.
Sami Caglar, Managing Director of SFL, said: “We are delighted to be working closely with Concept, not only on ensuring they supply us with the high-quality production staff we require, but in helping to provide support and advice to other manufacturing businesses throughout the region in what are challenging economic conditions.”
Concept’s Area Manager, Donna Barnes, said: “Despite this being challenging times in the recruitment sector, the SFL contract is one of many we have succeeded in securing this year. A recruitment agency like ours, that provides temporary staff to a range of different sectors, is a useful indicator of recovery in a struggling economy.
“In a recovery period, employers will tend to take on temporary staff first before renewing their commitment to longer-term investment in permanent appointments.
“We have been experiencing that situation over the last couple of months, which we hope is a sign that the economy is turning.”
