Development celebrates 25th anniversary

By Effective Communication

Residents at Tai Cymdogaeth’s sheltered housing scheme in Gorseinon, Swansea are living proof that community spirit is still alive and kicking as the development celebrated its 25th anniversary with a party last week(FRIDAY 14TH AUGUST).

Tai Cymdogaeth, part of the Gwalia group, manages and provides a wide range of housing including schemes for older people such as Einon Court.

Joining in the fun were the 52 residents who make up the Einon Court community – which included four residents who have lived there ever since it opened.

Myrtle Shepherd,88, Mair Grayson, 94, Doris Hapgood, 85, and Iris Thomas, 91, all moved into the development in South View, Gorseinon in 1984 and have lived there happily since.

The birthday party – organised by the residents with the help of Tai Cymdogaeth staff and the Community Chest fund– saw residents celebrate the successful community development and reminisce of the fun times had at Einon Court since its opening.

Sue Harrison, Service Manager at the housing development, who has worked at Einon Court for the last 17 years, said the community spirit at Einon Court was what had made the development such a happy place to live and work in.

“Einon Court has been a very happy home for many over the last 25 years, and the fact that several of our residents who moved in to the development in1984 are still living with us today is testament to this.”
