The company are now calling on businesses in the county borough to follow their lead and enter the 2009 Caerphilly Business Forum Awards sponsored by Coleg Gwent.
Since the acquisition of the business by Grove industries in 2007, Bearmach has continued to build on the success of the company that was established in 1957 and further strengthen its position as a major player in the selling of Land Rover parts globally.
To date 70% of Bearmach’s trade comes from overseas business, yet the companies increasing presence in the local area – which includes a 160-strong workforce based at its headquarters on Pant Glas Industrial Estate, a newly-opened retail store in Caerphilly and existing retail outlets in Swansea, Kent and Exeter – positions the company as a strong local employer which was recognised by the Queen’s Award.
And Bearmach pinpoint their success at the Caerphilly Business Forum Awards in 2008 as a turning point for the company. Managing Director Peter Whitehouse said: “Winning the Caerphilly Business Forum Award in November was a great recognition for everyone involved in making Bearmach a success, and it was only a few months after winning the Forum Award that we heard that we had also been awarded the Queen’s Award.
“Winning both awards has been a great lift for our staff and is much to the merit of my colleague Gwen Miles who put Bearmach forward for both awards, the hard work of our team and is recognition of the excellent relationships that we are forging internationally.
“I would strongly recommend that businesses in the area look to the Caerphilly Business Forum Awards 2009 to celebrate the successes within their businesses this year.”
Martyn Fear, Chair of the Caerphilly Business Forum, said: “Bearmach is a shining star among the superb calibre of businesses in the Caerphilly county borough.
“Their success was acknowledged and praised at the 2008 Caerphilly Business Forum Awards and was quite rightly a deserved recipient of the supreme honour of the Queen’s Award.
