One of Swansea’s most recognisable buildings has been given a new lease of life as social housing provider Grŵp Gwalia prepares to open the doors on the exciting development (Friday 9th Oct 4pm).

Llys Glas, Swansea’s former central police station, is to be officially opened on Friday by Grŵp Gwalia who has transformed the space into a mixed use development for the community and businesses.

The landmark building on Alexandra Road now houses a mix of student accommodation, artists’ studios, Citizens’ Advice Bureau’s new offices and the Celfi Gallery, as well as function rooms for hire.

Michael Williams, Chief Executive of Grŵp Gwalia, said “The building is of great historic interest and something the people of Swansea can be proud of.”

Mr Williams said that the benefits of the development could be felt by many across Swansea.

“The variety of organisations and individuals that are set to benefit from the regeneration of Llys Glas is wide reaching. Grŵp Gwalia has transformed this Swansea landmark into a thriving centre for community and business activity, adding vitality and vibrancy to the area”
