Sporting celebrities and businesses from across Swansea raised over £8,000 for a South Wales housing charity by taking part in a charity golf day.
Organised in support of the Gwalia Housing Trust, the event held at Langland Golf Club, raised £8,620 to assist with the ongoing work of the housing charity which is this year celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Scrum V’s Stuart Davies, Brynmor Williams, Huw Llewellyn Davies were joined by ex-rugby players Bleddyn Bowen, John Devereaux, Mark Wyatt and 33 teams of businesses from across the area.
The money raised will help the charity to continue with their ongoing work and donations to help individuals and community groups with needs associated with housing, as well as the elderly and people with disabilities.
Tracey Healey, Director of Gwalia Housing Trust said, “The golf day was a great success which raised a fantastic amount for the Gwalia Housing Trust. It is encouraging to see that the event is still going strong in its 20th year. The money raised will help the Gwalia Housing Trust to make a real difference to the lives of people within the local community.”
Local projects that have benefitted Gwalia Housing Trust’s work include Clase Family Centre, Carmarthenshire Women’s Aid and local independent living project Doorways.
As well as supporting larger scale projects, the Trust also aims to help individuals within the local community by giving regular small donations to raise the standard of living and quality of life.
