Chris Tarrant presents school with a new set of wheels

By Effective Communication

TV quiz show host Chris Tarrant came to Wales to present a Swansea school with a specially-adapted Lord’s Taverners minibus.

Pupils at Ysgol Crug Glas special school in Dyfatty, Swansea, met the Who Wants to be a Millionaire star to receive the keys to the £35,000 bus, which will enable them to visit local facilities.

Tarrant – who is President of The Lord’s Taverners – said: “The Lord’s Taverners is one of the UK’s leading youth sports charities and the official charity of recreational cricket.

“We give a ‘sporting chance’ to young people in need; those who through physical, mental, social, environmental or economic disadvantage, not of their own making, would otherwise miss out.

“I am delighted to present Ysgol Crug Glas with their own bus and hope it makes a real difference to their lives.”

Headteacher Phil Martin said: “The bus means a lot to the school. We’ll be able to take the children out a lot more often now.”

The Lord’s Taverners charity was set up in 1950 by a group of friends and cricket enthusiasts. They aim to give children, particularly those with special needs, a ‘sporting chance’, by providing sporting equipment, minibuses, grants and donations.
