Francis Drake Launches New-Look Thunderball Draw
By Effective Communication
‘Francis Drake’ look-a-like enjoyed a reminiscent game of bowls on the Plymouth Hoe bowling green this week, to launch the new-look National Lottery Thunderball draw on Wednesday 12 May 2010.

Big changes have happened to the Thunderball draw – the top prize has doubled from £250,000 to £500,000, there is an extra Friday night draw, an extended number range and a new prize of £3 for matching just the Thunderball – all still costing £1
Francis Drake was famously playing a game of bowls on the Hoe in 1588 when the Spanish Armada was first sighted. In a characteristic display of bravado, he insisted on finishing the game before he took to the sea.
To play the new-look game, players must now choose five main numbers from an extended number range of 1-39 and one Thunderball from 1-14. As well as Wednesday and Saturday nights, Thunderball will also add Friday to its draw days – giving players three opportunities to play in any week. The first draw will take place on 12 May 2010 and the first Friday draw will be on 14 May.
