By Effective Communication
Fast-growing public relations company Effective Communication has made three new key appointments at its PR operations in Cardiff and Swansea.

Media and PR specialist Andy Pearson has been recruited to head up the company’s South West Wales base in Swansea, while two of the Effective team at its Cardiff headquarters have been promoted to senior roles.
Former newspaper editor Andy, 45, had been a self-employed media and PR consultant since 2006. As Effective’s South West Wales account manager, his clients will include social housing and care service provider Grwp Gwalia, Swansea’s Village Hotel, IT firm BSS, investment specialists Brewin Dolphin, Kee Dental Care, Swansea Business Club and Nolan uPVC.
He will also be closely involved in the PR for National Lottery organisers Camelot on behalf of Effective for lottery winners taking publicity in Wales, as well as helping to roll out new games and products.
Born in Brecon and raised in Yorkshire, Andy’s award-winning media career began in local newspapers 27 years ago. He was editor of the Llanelli Star for four years, spent six years as features editor of the South Wales Evening Post and three years as a reporter and sub-editor on the Western Mail.
He lives with his wife and two children in Killay, Swansea, and continues to commentate on the communications industry with his daily blog Swansea Bay Media Master (www.swanseabaymediamaster.blogspot.com).
Two members of the Effective PR team have been promoted at the company’s Cardiff offices in Pontcanna. Helen Ward has been appointed Account Director, while Sarah Kilcoyne becomes Senior Account Manager, responsible for managing and servicing many of the Cardiff-based clients.
Both joined Effective in its first year and look after a portfolio of clients which includes Careers Wales, Principality, Axa, Camelot, Cardiff Blues, Independent General Practice, Hern & Crabtree, Cowbridge Food Festival and Ludlow Street Healthcare.
Effective managing director Alastair Milburn said: “We are delighted to have made these three new key appointments to the business which will prove important as we continue to grow and evolve to meet the needs of a fast-changing media and communications sector.
“The next couple of years will be very exciting as we look to grow the business to the next level.”
Effective Communication PR and marketing agency, which marks its fifth birthday this year, has worked with more than 170 clients since its creation in 2005 by former award-winning newspaper editor Alastair Milburn.
