Merthyr to Brecon Motorbike Charity Challenge

By Effective Communication

Open cast miner Alan Davies is using his passion for motorsports to support a Welsh cancer charity after losing his mum to the disease.

Alan, 43, is organising a charity motorbike race on Sunday 27 June from Merthyr Tydfil to Brecon in aid of Cancer Research Wales. The charity funds vital research into the deadly disease with all money staying in Wales.

Alan, who has been riding motorbikes in his spare time since the age of eight, said: “Since my mum died I feel a sympathy with anyone affected by the disease. I have always supported Cancer Research Wales with the small donations I could afford, but have always wanted to do more.

“I came up with the motorbike race as my first fundraiser because of my love of the sport, and everyone has been so supportive. Everything seems to have come together nicely, and I’m really looking forward to Sunday.”

Alan is hoping to raise more than £1,000 from the race which starts at 11am at Merthyr Tydfil College car park and finishes at the Brecon rugby fields. If you would like to take part or support in any other way, please contact Alan on 07765103943.
