One mile swim raises hundreds for charity
By Effective Communication
The Llanelli Surf Lifesaving Club has raised more than £500 for Cancer Research Wales by swimming a mile.
The club, which has close to 100 members ranging from eight years old to 50, held the sponsored swim at the Llanelli Leisure Centre. Last week Llanelli Surf Lifesaving instructor and event organiser, Bethan Jones, presented the cheque to Cancer Research Wales commercial fundraising manager Stuart Barry.
Bethan said: “Well done to all who swam the mile. It worked out as 64 laps of the pool in total, which is quite incredible especially for some of the youngsters.”
Stuart said: “We are very grateful to the Llanelli Surf Lifesaving Club for raising this magnificent amount and it’s great to see the kids getting involved in keeping fit and raising much needed funds for our charity.”
Cancer Research Wales is an indigenous Welsh cancer charity, funding vital research into new cancer treatments.
