Principality staff get ready to walk the width of Wales
By Effective Communication
Management staff at Principality Building Society have been wearing in their hiking boots in preparation to trek the width of Wales – all in the name of Macmillan Cancer Support.

On July 2nd, 12 members of Principality’s Management team, including Chief Operating Officer, Graeme Yorston, Marketing Director, James Wright and Sales Director, Stuart Deane, will take on a gruelling 45 mile walk starting on the Wales/Shropshire boarder and finishing on the welsh coast at Clarach, near Aberystwyth.
The trip is set to take 2 days and the team is hoping to raise a whooping £5000 for Principality’s Charity of the Year, Macmillan Cancer Support.
Activity organiser and Assistant Secretary, Mike Borrill, said: “It’s a special year for us at Principality as we celebrate 150 years of being at the heart of Wales, 150 years of being involved with communities and supporting what is great about Wales. In light of this we wanted to celebrate by setting ourselves a challenge to raise money for a great cause. As office workers, there’s no bigger challenge than to walk the mountainous terrain of Wales!”
“For the last couple of months we have been training for this event in a number of ways. Recent practice walks have included taking the various different routes up to top of Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, walking in the Black Mountains and by ascending Moel Famau in North Wales. By the 2nd July, we should all be ready for the challenge we have set ourselves – guaranteeing that we raise a significant sum for the Charity!”
More than 100,000 people in Wales are currently living with or beyond cancer and
one in three will be diagnosed with it during their lifetime. Macmillan Cancer Support provides practical, medical, emotional and financial support for people diagnosed with cancer, their family and carers.
There are around 200 Macmillan professionals working in hospitals and out in the community in Wales. As well as nurses they include physiotherapists, social workers, pharmacists, welfare benefits advisers, information coordinators and dietitians.
