Sporting celebs tee-off to support Gwalia

By Andy Pearson

Welsh rugby stars and businesses are helping to raise money for a leading Swansea housing charity.

Former players Jonathan Davies, Stuart Davies and Ieuan Evans will be joined by 34 businesses from across South Wales at the Gwalia Housing Trust 21st Anniversary Pro-AM Golf Tournament at Gower’s Langland Bay Golf Club on July 16.

Sponsored by construction company Cowlin, the event will aim to raise around £10,000 for the charity that helps vulnerable and disadvantaged people across Wales.

Tracey Healey, director of Gwalia Housing Trust, said, “This is always an exciting time for the trust and we appreciate and are so thankful for local businesses supporting us for the past 21 years.

“We hope the day will be as successful as in previous years. The money raised will help people within the Swansea community, making a difference to their lives.”

Gwalia Housing Trust was established in 1988. Its ongoing work and donations help individuals and community groups, as well as the elderly and those with a wide variety of disabilities.

Projects that have benefitted from the trust’s work include Swansea’s Clase Family Centre, Carmarthenshire Women’s Aid and independent living project Doorways.

As well as supporting larger scale projects, the trust also aims to help individuals within the local community by giving regular small donations to raise their standard of living and quality of life.
