Awards’ public relations booster

A stylish awards event hosted by the South Wales Evening Post and Swansea Bay Business Life means a handy PR shot for business.
The titles’ Business Awards night named a champion of champions from the monthly winners of the 2010 prize programme.
Those shortlisted and those who won honours will each be able to use the success as part of their marketing strategy for years to come.
Evening Post editor Spencer Feeney and Business Life editor Wyn Jenkins were among those who took to the stage at the Dragon Hotel last night.
Winner
SA Brain CEO Scott Waddington announced that the winner was Swansea-based skincare firm Dr Organic.
Commended were Llanelli’s well established Teddington Engineered Solutions and Swansea online TV innovator Yamgo.
I was lucky to be on a table with managing director Ian McPherson and his colleagues from plastic-frame construction specialist Affresol, of Fforestfach.
Theirs is a great story which has already gained international publicity thanks to their life-size recycled plastic detached house.
Better
And things only look like getting better, with big news about to break of a great deal for them with a Welsh social housing provider.
Others on last night’s shortlist included SA1’s Cafe Two Cann, Neath’s Posh Bags and Swansea University.
It was good to see well-known Swansea business personalities there – including Emily Hunt of the Village Hotel – as well as exciting newer faces such as Julian Hilton, of insurance brokers Jelf.
