Food, drink and networking

By Andy Pearson

There was some splendid PR carried out at the top of Wales’ tallest residential building last night.

Trade organisation Tourism Swansea Bay had organised a function with food and drink providers Castell Howell to introduce members to SA Brain’s Grape and Olive.

The bar/restaurant makes the most of panoramic views over Swansea and its magnificent bay. And so it should from 28 or 29 floors up.

Happily, judging from the buzz in the room last night, the guests made the most of their own opportunity – to meet and network.

Mingled

Tourism Swansea Bay figures such as Dean Jeffery and Cathy Lewis mingled with guests from such venues as Fairyhill, 1940s Swansea and Pitton Cross Caravan Park.

Staff from Brains and Castell Howell, including marketing officer Rhiannon Cole, got along famously with service providers such as Lesley Williams, of The Bay magazine, and Andrew Hilton, of high-quality accommodation provider Gower Getaways.

Opportunity

It was a great opportunity for Brains and Castell Howell to exhibit their excellence.

It was also a chance for tourism providers to create a good impression on others. Who knows when clients in need of a top tip will now be pointed in their direction?

And it was good to see publicity material on show.

Favourite

My favourite? A booklet from food campaign True Taste called Great Local Fish and Shellfish Recipes.

Why? Well, the grilled mackerel with mango salsa recipe for one … and the seared seabass with laverbread sauce.

Utterly beguiling – and utterly Welsh.

Well done, Tourism Swansea Bay!
