Media frenzy for Valentines

By Andy Pearson

Don’t look now – but Valentine’s Day is fast approaching.

And the media won’t let go of it. Like many other business sectors, they benefit commercially from a little romance.

The Mail on Sunday gave away a free Elvis love songs CD this weekend and promised that it’d get even more excited about February 14 as the day neared.

Locally, the South Wales Evening Post is promoting its own Valentine’s offerings.

Online, for instance, you’ll find the Post’s list of south west Wales restaurants with which to impress your loved one.

Connection

Meanwhile, Swansea Sound has been busily plugging its Singles Connection – http://bit.ly/gAXsiN.

The quick lesson is: If you’re a business with a Valentines offering, think of a publicity stunt quickly – and let your local press know about it.

Meanwhile, if you’re personally looking for something a little different why not head for Swansea’s Village Hotel on February 12?

They plan a Valentine Spring Ball featuring soul singer James Franklin who’s sure to bring a heady Motown feel to proceedings.

There’s a three-course meal and a disco thrown in – good value at £25.

Or you could push the boat out to banish the economic blues by booking a few days away through Swansea bespoke breaks specialist THG Holidays.

For under £1,000 you can get four nights in a three-star Philadelphia hotel, with flights from Heathrow.
