Fundraising dinner helps dementia care training

Entertainer Mike Doyle helped more than 20 businesses raise money for a Swansea housing charity.

The Carmarthen-born comedian, singer and broadcaster entertained more than 200 guests at the annual Gwalia Housing Trust fundraising dinner.
The Liberty Stadium event (note: on March 18), sponsored by Gwyr Homes and Westward Energy Services, raised more than £9,000.
Attractions included a charity auction when lots included a hot air balloon experience, a day at the Ffos Las races and signed memorabilia from rugby’s Shane Williams.
The money raised will help fund projects such as specialist dementia care training for nurses at Gwalia’s integrated care home Cwm Aur, in Llanybydder.
Gwalia Housing Trust director Tracey Healey said: “The dinner is always a great event which helps to raise awareness of what is a truly local charity.
“Our events over the past year have raised a substantial amount of money which has helped in specialist dementia care training as well as assisting individuals and families in Swansea and the surrounding areas.
“The money raised from the dinner will help us make a real difference to the lives of people within the local community.”
