Heading west: County Life

By Andy Pearson

A new venture has been announced by the South Wales Evening Post.

The paper – Swansea’s dominant media platform – plans a monthly magazine for its territories to the west.

It already has the lifestyle glossy Swansea Life aimed at youngish city folk and Swansea Bay Business Life targeting the business community.

The new Life title, due to launch next month, will attack Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.

Foothold

The Post already has a foothold across a large swathe of that area, with robust weekly newspapers the Carmarthen Journal and Llanelli Star.

Post advertising executive Dawn Thomas tells me the new product is aimed specifically at a West Wales audience.

She says: “It’s be West Wales’ finest lifestyle magazine and will be called County Life.

“It celebrates the uniqueness and diversity of West Wales, its stunning scenery, interesting towns, villages and people and reflects the best of living in this beautiful area.

Inspiring

“It’ll have inspiring ideas on homes, fashion, wellbeing, food and drink, leisure and a lot more.

“Its standards will be high and it’ll attract a readership with disposable income and an aspirational outlook.

“It will showcase and champion the best things about local life.”

First issue due: April 18.
