Hollywood and song: What a treat!
By Andy Pearson
The dust is just about settling on one of the biggest 2011 charity nights in Wales.
Michael Sheen, Paul Potts, Rebecca Evans and Rob Brydon were among those to take the stage on behalf of the Treat Trust.
The aim, over the coming few years, is to raise £10m to build a unique therapy centre in Swansea for disabled people.
And with around 200 guests paying £65 for a ticket at the city’s Brangwyn Hall, the ball is now rolling.
Media
A good number of the ticket sales could be attributed to the great media coverage in the build-up to Friday’s gala dinner.
This came thanks to a PR campaign piloted by Effective Communication and embraced by the South Wales Evening Post, Swansea Sound and The Wave, BBC TV Wales, Real Radio, the Western Mail, Swansea Life and Local News Port Talbot.
Thanks to all the journalists who ran preview stories.
Sponsors
And thanks to the night’s sponsors, including major backer Peter Lynn and Partners.
Mel Davies, the key driver behind Treat Trust Wales, said: “What a stunning occasion!
“Our Patrons and stars shone; Paul Potts’ stupendous performance had the audience on their feet, our president Michael Sheen encapsulated the Treat ethos perfectly and Rebecca Evans held the room in her hand as she opened the celebration with five stunning numbers.
Privilege
“It was a privilege to share the stage with such talented and dedicated people including our MC, Kevin Johns.”
We gained two more patrons in Rob Brydon and Rebecca; Tanni Grey Thompson was a joy as ever and others worked their socks off.
Roll on next year’s gala dinner!
