Llandeilo Market Hall – public consultation exhibition
By Effective Communication
A public exhibition is to highlight proposals for restoring and reusing Llandeilo’s former Market Hall.
Townsfolk are being invited to the display which will also explain plans for developing land next to the hall.
The public consultation exhibition will be held at St Teilo’s Church Hall, Llandeilo, on Tuesday, April 12, from 3–7pm.
Individuals will be able to view the Market Hall proposals, will have the chance to speak to the developers and will be able to express their views.
Not-for-profit developers Grŵp Gwalia intend to repair and refurbish the hall for commercial use and to develop 13 affordable homes for sale on the adjoining land.
Gwalia’s proposals comply with a development brief and were prepared in consultation with senior Carmarthenshire Council officers.
They include repairing and refurbishing all external features of the listed building, and paving the way for a high-quality conversion project once commercial occupiers are identified.
The new-build element features nine apartments and four houses specifically for local people finding it difficult to get on the property ladder.
High-quality paved and landscaped space will be provided along with parking for vehicles associated with the project.
Stuart Davies, Gwalia’s executive director of development, said: “We’ve consulted with the county council and Llandeilo Town Council to deliver a development that meets the needs of the town.
“The public consultation exhibition will allow the people of Llandeilo to view our proposals and to express their views before any planning decisions are made.”
