The Post has The Passion

By Andy Pearson

Hollywood actor Michael Sheen is back in his home town of Port Talbot preparing for one of the biggest events in the town’s recent history.

He’s working towards a three-day dramatic production called The Passion. It involves the National Theatre Wales and hundreds of local people.

The theatre group has been busy engaging the media in the process, with web network Local News Port Talbot being particularly active.

On board

Community radio station XS is on board as is the South Wales Evening Post which has run preview stories.

News now reaches me that the Post has been asked to produce the definitive printed guide to The Passion a couple of days before the event begins.

They plan their tabloid pull-out to appear in the paper’s April 18 edition.

Action

It’s likely to have an itinerary of the event’s action with times, dates and locations.

Advertising staff are busy selling space, with everything from a premium-position full back page ad (£1,500) to 10cm ads across 2 columns (£150).

At this stage there are no calls for overall sponsors but this may change as interest develops.

Excitement

“There’s  a lot of excitement about it in our building,” a senior advertising figure told me. “It’s three days of non-stop theatre, it’s got a major star, a filming deal and a lot of community involvement.

“I was in Port Talbot this week and the town is plastered in Passion posters – it’s going to be huge!”

Any business that fancies getting involved can give me a shout – 07890 953402.
