Action from last year's Local Hero Awards hosted by The Wave and Swansea Sound

More news from sister radio stations The Wave and Swansea Sound.

They’ve just started a big push to promote their annual community pride awards which offers a pleasant route to PR.

Their always chipper Stuart Jones-Lee tells me the Local Hero Awards ceremony is due to take place on May 18.

Backers benefit from on-air promo credits, a table for 10 at the event and the chance to present the relevant award.

Fantastic

Stuart says: “It’s a fantastic event and we devote a lot of airtime to it.

“It’s going to be bigger and better this year and the venue – the Liberty Stadium – matches the event perfectly.

“It’s a brilliant chance to help us honour those who’ve gone the extra mile to help others and this year we’ve added new categories.”

Listeners will nominate someone they know via entry forms throughout April.

Outstanding

Judges will then select the winning entries from categories such as Child of Courage, Bravest Youngster, Young Achiever, Teacher  and Outstanding Contribution to Charity.

Backers include under Budget Carpets, Blazers and Sunnyhaven Caravans, Alberto Culver and Action for Children.

Each winner will take home a trophy and will be treated to a two-course meal and entertainment.

The fee for sponsoring a category is £1,000. If you’re interested, give me a nudge.
