Wave music ousted by Swans
By Andy Pearson
In an unprecedented move, Swansea-based music radio station The Wave will carry a football commentary on Monday.
Listeners more used to tuning in for Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Adele will instead – for 90 minutes at least – get Mr Anthony O’Connell.
I don’t know what Anthony’s singing’s like, but his Swansea City commentaries on sister station Swansea Sound have been spendid for a few years now.
Importance
And, to recognise the importance of the Bank Holiday Wembley showdown with Reading, senior manager Steve Barnes has agreed with the Football League that this game can appear on both stations.

Prizes
As another indiation as to the importance of Premiership football to south west Wales, both stations are running play-of competitions this morning.
The Wave breakfast hosts Badger and Emma on Monday have teamed up with Football League title sponsors npower to offer a prize of two Wembley tickets.
Colleague Kev Johns, over on Swansea Sound’s early shift, has a similar offer for listeners.
Supporters
Play-offs news coverage on the two stations has been strong over the past two weeks and I hear they’ll have a reporter on a Wembley-bound supporters’ coach.
The home pages of their websites have featured heavy Swans promotion too – it’s all building up rather nicely.
