New technology used to sell affordable homes

By Effective Communication

Affordable homes provider Gŵyr Homes is taking advantage of Britain’s obsession with smartphones and is launching a new way to market their homes for sale.

Gŵyr Homes has started using QR codes on their for sale signs to give prospective buyers an additional way of gaining information about their properties.

A QR code, short for Quick Response, is essentially a modern barcode that can be read by smartphones.

When the code is scanned by the phone’s camera, the user receives relevant content, in this case details of the property from Gŵyr Homes’ website.

Stuart Davies, executive director of Gŵyr Homes, said the innovation was an important new marketing tool.

He said: “A lot of people drive by or walk past for sale signs and then have to search through websites or phone the agent to gain more information about a property.

“With our QR codes, however, buyers are able to access information about our properties instantly.”

Gŵyr Homes specialises in providing affordable homes for sale to those finding it difficult to buy on the open market and has introduced the QR codes at their Y Gerddi development in Bynea, Llanelli.

Mr Davies said: “There are only two apartments left and this is what we are using the QR codes to promote.

“The apartments are on the market from £56,000 – perfect for single people and couples who want to get on the first rung of the property ladder.

“This new mobile marketing channel fits well with the young first time buyer market who we think will be interested in these apartments.”

Due to the success of Y Gerddi, Gŵyr Homes has recently announced that developer Knightstone Homes will be building another four family homes as part of another phase.

Mr Davies said: “I’m sure this will prove popular and I can see us utilising this technology more on phase 2, particularly as by this time next year it is thought that smartphones will account for at least half of all the UK’s mobile phones.

“At Gŵyr Homes we endeavour to keep up with the needs of our customers and this is just one example of how we’re doing this.”

Smartphone users need to download a QR reader application in order to be able to scan QR codes.
